AideRSS closes VC and Angel Financing–Congrats to an RSS leader!
I’ve been using AideRSS for a long time now. Their service gives me a filtered and prioritized version of my feeds that is essential to my workflow. Not only that, their PostRank widget adds great value to my blog visitors by highlighting popular posts on my blog (I’ll get one on here soon). And it’s not just me, Marshall Kirkpatrick highlighted them in his RSS toolkit post (hey, Marshall didn’t I tell you about them!).
To make the New Year even better for them, I got an email Kevin at AideRSS that they just closed a round of VC and angel financing:
And 2008 is only going to get better. We’re happy to announce today that AideRSS has closed a financing round with Tech Capital Partners and a group of Canadian angel investors. This funding will provide us with resources to continue to grow and develop leadership in the fast-accelerating RSS market and deliver the leading tools and services needed to help increase your personal productivity. We’re extremely excited to have been able to assemble such an amazing team of investors and mentors! Source: RSS Momentum, AideRSS Closes Financing - AideRSS Blog
While the "significant sum" wasn’t disclosed, I’ll bet it was a tidy sum. This is fantastic news, Marshall’s post on their announcement, gives some good feedback. In Kevin’s email to me he hinted at more tools and services to come with this influx of cash.
I recommend AideRSS all the time to people who are trying to follow all the tech news they can, but are overwhelmed with the amount of info. Sometimes it’s just too much. With aideRSS I’ve put most of my feeds into their service (I took out my vanity and link searches, etc), and know that I can get a great overview of the news. No, it doesn’t catch all the stuff I find interesting, but it gets a lot of the important stuff. Want to see for yourself? Here is my aideRSS feed (I figured if RW/W is sharing theirs….) that you can subscribe to, I just refreshed it with a bunch of new feeds that I’ve subscribed to as well so you’ll really be getting a nice slice of reading.
Congrats again to aideRSS and I’m looking forward to what they have in store in ‘08!

This is great news!
I use AideRSS to filter lifehacker.com down to the best posts. It makes it so much easier not getting 30 posts a day from one site.
I’m considering using it for filtering posts on social media sites such as del.icio.us.
One of the hard things for AideRSS is once you have a good feed set up, you don’t (have to) go back to their site unless you want to add or change something. However, smart people would be less inclined to use it if it had the facebook mentality of forcing users to log in to receive messages.

Yeah I’d love to have it sync in with my feed list some how so I wouldn’t have to remember to add feeds to it. Of course a quick export, import does the job quite nicely and I don’t have to pick and choose–It just adds the new ones!
