Blackberry Gets Chinese OK
After eight years trying to get into the market, Research in Motion has finally succeeded in getting approval to sell the Blackberry in China. The 8700g will be available at the end of August. Aimed at corporate users in major Chinese cities, there are already 5,000 advance orders for the Blackberry.
It will be interesting to see if mobile e-mail resonates in China to the same extent it has in North America. The Blackberry’s chances of success are bolstered by the fact many Asian countries have very active and large wireless populations and there is widespread usage of smartphones.
