iPhone in Canada?

It looks like the iPhone is coming to Canada - and you can snap one up for a cool $799 at Holt Renfrew, according to Digital Journal. For those of you not familiar with Holt Renfrew, it’s a high-end retailer where all the rich people shop.

    Most of us treated this as a joke, which I am pretty sure it is.

    Not only does Holt’s have less than stellar distribution, it has a far smaller footprint than the Rogers EDGE Network. On top of that, the Holt R’s demographic is not at all the iPhone target market. 20 and 30-somethings with just a little extra cash to burn (but who are still sensitive to things like data rates) are where apple positioned the iPhone., not at the Gucci-shoes-twice-a-week demographic.

    They aren’t selling them even at Macy’s in the states, let alone Saks.

    And then, there is the 799$ price,. Apple dare not charge Canada such a huge premium.

    I hope that it won’t be 799$ considering that Canadian dollar value is equal to US dollar…

    That’s completely absurd, moreso after a dramatic price drop in the US. Total non-journalism.
