New Canadian Video-Sharing Service

by Mark Evans on January 17th, 2007

Videoca
For those of you interested in the video-sharing market, DailyPixel Inc. has launched a beta version of Video.ca. The service is fairly straightforward with the normal bells and whisties you’ve come to know and, perhaps, love from other services such as YouTube. What I like about Video.ca is the clean look and feel, which makes it user-friendly. What I wonder about is how Video.ca and Canadian rivals such as blog.tv are going to differentiate themselves and attract users. It’s fine to launch a service but something else entirely to get people to actually use it.

Mark, thanks for the mention and the kind words. I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of it all being about the community. I truly believe that Video.ca’s success or failure will hinge primarily on our ability to create, connect with and proactively service a growing Canadian community. I’m excited about the possibilities, energized by the creators who have already uploaded but also very aware of the ongoing work that must be done to make Video.ca better.
