Are Canadian tech salaries on the money?

I was looking at this post about a recent StatsCan report on Canadian salaries and income.  While I don’t know if I’m going to read the whole report, I’m wondering if these comments are on the money, as it were:
What suprised me the most is the choice of income binning. The definition of the quintiles […]

Canadian Innovation Exchange set for April 29-30th

What’s hot in Canadian tech?  Yeah, a lot, but how can you learn about all the great stuff going on?  At the end of April I think you’ll have your chance to see what’s hot now and what will be hot soon at the Canadian Innovation Exchange in Toronto:
The inaugural Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) is […]

What’s hot in Calgary Tech–Material Insight gives you a look

Caught this mention of the tech community in Calgary on the Techvibes blog:
Today, Material Insight is helping over 50 small and medium size businesses to grow aggressively. Typically these companies founders have great product development expertise, but lack the time or skills to take their business to the next level. They also don’t have the […]

ACDSee Pro2 powerful and easy photo editing and management software

Since Web Community Forum in December I’ve been using, and loving, ACDSee Pro2 to import, manage, and edit my images.  Connie Bensen, ACDSee’ uber community manager got a bunch of us hooked on it in December and she got Lee Hopkins hooked on it as well it appears.

No doubt, Montreal is a hopping place for technology

Contrary to what folks might think down south (i.e. the US), Canada is has a very hot tech scene.  There is great stuff going on across the country, which btw keeps me busy, but I have to say of the tech cities here in Canada Vancouver and Montreal are the hot spots as far as […]

Overlay.tv lets you add to videos and earn a little cash too

Ottawa-based overlay.tv launched today with something that I think is pretty interesting and unique–letting users annotate and add to videos.
The idea is pretty simple (after you create an account) you find a video like on YouTube and put the URL into Overlay and then you, well, overlay stuff onto it.
Yeah I had a hard time […]

FeedHub adds extension and features, but aideRSS is close behind

I got a ping from FeedHub last night that they are adding a Firefox extension and a raft of new features.  Frank Gruber got the post up today, which is good because I’m still trying to find all my brain cells from blowing my nose all the time from this cold:

The FeedHub update will tackle: […]

Canadians at DEMO–Good stuff and I’ll be looking for them!

I got my press info for DEMO next week.  The DEMO08 conference schedule looks amazing, but it’s the presenters who people come to see, right?  While there are some really excellent companies from around the world, my focus is on Canadians.  Here’s the list:

HealthPricer Interactive, Ltd.; Vancouver, BC; www.healthpricer.com
Rove Mobile, Inc.; Ottawa, Ontario; www.rovemobile.com
SceneCaster; Richmond […]

As the Founders & Funders are wrapping up their dinner…

Tonight, I was sure it was later in the week, is the Founders & Funders dinner in TO.  Jevon posted these questions on StartupNorth as discussion points for the evening:
Do Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists get enough recognition for the deals they do in Canada?
Do Canadian universities inspire and support entrepreneurship? Could a “Startup Co-Op” […]
