Tira Wireless Raises $5M

Tira Wireless, which provides technology and servides to wireless carriers, has raised US$5-million from a group of investors that include Lehman Brothers Venture Partners, Brightspark Ventures, Flagship Ventures and Export Development Canada.

The Toronto-based company said the new financing will let it expand into new markets beyond mobile entertainment. This could include applications such as messaging and GPS-enabled located based services, as well as Web 2.0 services such as social networking and blogging.
