Tracking Google Maps

by Mark Evans on June 3rd, 2006

If you’re into Google Maps and all the amazing mash-ups being developed, a must-read blog is Mike Pegg’s Google Maps Mania. The site receives tons of traffic, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise given the extensive amount of content and the growing fascination with all things Google Maps these days. I was particularly amused by Mike’s post today on StripClubMap.com, which aims to provide “gentlemen” with an online tool to easily find, well, strip clubs. By the way, Mike’s been invited to speak later this month at the Googleplex (sounds like the geek version of being invited to the Playboy Mansion!) to talk about his blog and offer his take on some of the more interesting APIs. He plans to live blog the event, which features 200 Google Map, Earth and SketchUp users.
Update: Google Maps Mania gets about 4,000 unique visitors a day and has 5,000 RSS subscribers according to FeedBurner.  Since last July, the site has received 1.1 million unique visitors. All in all, very impressive.
