Vote on Animikii’s New Name
The process of going through a corporate branding exercise can be challenging given you’ve got to come up with something that resonates with employees, customers, investors and the media, AND then see if you can grab the URL. With the launch of a new Web site content management system, Victoria-based Animikii has decided to take a different approach by setting up a Web site, NameMyApp.com, where people can vote on one of four short-listed names: Yike!Site, Lunar Meadow, Yoluna and Asábiké. Here’s why Animikii wants a new name:
“The name we have been using is “Asábiké CMS” (pronounced Ah-Saw-Bee-Kay). Asábiké is from the Ojibwe language (Native American) from the verb of making a net - for fishing. Or in our case, the making of the “inter” net. We really like this name but as we are launching our site to the public, we need a word that is easy to pronounce, is memorable and … quite frankly the domain name is available :) “
Aside from its new content management system, Animikii offers Web site design, Web application development and Web hosting services. The company, which is headed up by Métis entrepreneur Jeff Ward, is an Aboriginal owned and operated business.
Personally, I like Yike!Site, although I could live with Yoluna. :)
