Want Free Wi-Fi? Try Regina
The municipal Wi-Fi revolution, which has only been so-so in Toronto, has hit Regina. The city just launched a $1.3-million network that will offer people free Internet access - making it the biggest free Wi-Fi network in Canada.
The network is part of a project called Saskatchewan Connected!, which was spawned during a youth confernece in February after Wi-Fi emerged as one of the things that young people wanted to see.
In many respects, Saskatchewan has become the place where telecom innovation happens - taking over from NBTel, which losts its innovation mojo when it become part of Aliant, which became part of BCE Inc.

Nice to see another city offering a free wireless network. We’ve had free wireless in Fredericton since 2003 via the Fred-eZone (http://www.fred-ezone.com/). Cities like Fredericton and Regina are setting the status quo and I expect that in the future, wifi will be an important part of most municipal infrastructures.

Aidan, hey it’s your family from Regina.
You’re not coming to the reunion in Mexico during spring break. Jokes on you that some of us read blogs.
