Web Site Creation Made Easy

A trend that I’ve noticed recently is the emergence of start-ups offering do-it-yourself Web site creation and hosting. I guess with blogs being all the rage, it’s an indication that a lot of people want their own place on the Web to call home.
A new player is Victoria, B.C.-based YikeSite, which launched its public service today. Creating a Web site using Yike Site is a breeze - it took me less than five minutes to create my YikeSite Web site. Although the user-interface needs a little tweaking to get really user-friendly, For example, the edit button is prominently displayed at the bottom of each page but the “save” button is not as prominent.
That said, YikeSite is a highly-usable service for anyone who wants a Web presence without shelling thousands of dollars to a Web site designer.
YikeSite is offering several packages starting at free, which comes with only 5MB of space. You also have to use yikesite.com’s domain within the URL but what do you expect for nothing? The top of the line package offers 500MB of space, an unlimited number of Web pages, and the ability to use your own domain name.
