Maple Leaf 2.0 - Technology and Web 2.0 News in Canada

What’s a zigtag?

by Mark Evans on July 15th, 2006

I stumbled across a Web site called Web 2.0 Central this morning, which like Maple Leaf 2.0, looks at what’s going with new services, mashups and companies. The guy behind Web 2.0 Central, Reg Cheramy, also has a called zigtag, a still-in-development startup that promises to help people “search, save and share” information. It may not be long, however, before zigtag’s story is revealed if it’s successful in securing a spot on a new CBC reality show called Dragon’s Den that gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to pitch their ideas/companies to investors. To encourage Dragon’s Den host, Sean Wise, to select zigtag, zigtag is encouraging people to vote here. If your curious about zigtag, here’s Cheramy’s pitch on Wise’s site.

“We all waste way too much time searching for information on the internet. Search engines today return millions of results yet users only look through the first 10 or 20 before trying another search. It’s not the users fault for entering the wrong search terms, it’s the technologies for not adapting to the user. Zigtag provides real-time, personal, filtered search results so users find what they are looking instantly. Think of it as a super fast internet search assistant.”

    Mark,

Thanks for the feed, we would really love to hear what you readers thing of Zigtag (and the other potential pitchers we have profiled on the site)

I really like the Zigtag product, I really like Reg, but I worry that the “viewing audience” will not be able to grasp the offering. After all “cloths for dogs” is easy to get on TV….web 2.0…not so much :(

To assist Reg, we’ve just posted his actual elevator pitch online…hoping that will allow people to give us feedback!

Thanks again for the support, let me know if you’d like a pass to visit the set of Dragons’ Den when we shoot in August. We may not be Microsoft, but we know YOU get it ;)

    All the best,
Long live the Canadian Tech Mob,

    Sean

Sounds like he is stuck in the old dotcom days were you did not really need an actual product.
