Duncan Moore sent me a message, via Facebook no less, that a new viral Facebook app was about to hit–Status Competition.
Heri has a review on Montreal Tech Watch–Rate your friends’ status with Status Competition | Montreal Tech Watch–okay this isn’t my usual cup of tea for Facebook apps as you can imagine, however it does show some cool innovation.
Sure, it’s another goofy app for Facebook, but perhaps my curmudgeonliness can stand aside for a moment and consider if this kind of friendly competition could be put to good use. Maybe an app to vote for the best writer, artist, or photographer?
On a related note, Gerald Bauer e-mailed me to let me know that on Monday the 28th the Facebook Developer Garage will be meeting for the first time this year and showing off the "Best of the West, 2007". Of course Miss604 herself (aka Rebecca Bollwitt) will be live blogging the event. Which is good, because I’ll be at DEMO08 that week. Rebecca has the growing list of the nominees for The Best of the West on her blog. Should be a pretty fun event.
So the tally today is one new app from New Brunswick, one new app from Quebec, and a bunch of great ones already out from the West. Yeah I think it’s safe to say Canada’s got it going in the Facebook app development world.
