Wireless Social Networking
If you check out Ambient Vector’s Web site, there’s not a lot of information available on what they’re doing. But behind the scenes there’s a lot of interesting things happening focused on using wireless devices to make easy for people to share photos and video. I guess you could say it’s a tool for the MySpace generation, which has made wireless devices an essential part of their lifestyles. Ambient Vector’s business model is multi-pronged: relationships with wireless carriers who want services that drive minutes and transactions, advertising and content sales. The company has received some pre-seed financing from Celtic House and expects to be raising an A round over the next few months. Ambient Vector’s biggest challenge will likely be getting enough marketing momentum to drive a critical mass of users to discover and embrace its service. This could happen through relationships with wireless carriers or other vehicles such as the blogosphere and word of mouth. The technology is cool but like any start-up getting people to actually use what you have develop is a huge challenge - and opportunity.
